Acne: Explained

25 03 2011

We live in a world where P Diddy has found the cure to acne.  It’s called Pro-Activ.

Now.  Keep that in mind, when you read my explanation.

Acne is not a skin problem.  It’s an indicator of a poor, filthy diet.  In other words, too many sodas, and too much fast food.  Sodas and fast foods are full of chemicals.  Most are so full that very little actual food remains.  Sodas contain loads of lab-made sugar, dissolved into battery acid, and colored with another chemical so it resembles the natural color of the chemical flavor that was added.  Fast food started as real food, then fillers were added, as were chemical colors, chemical flavors, sugar for taste, fat for softness, and salt so it can last forever.

Now that you see just how many chemicals can be consumed in a day.  What happens to these chemicals?  The liver tries to get rid of them from the blood stream and the kidneys try to rid them from the body altogether.  But there are so many, that the kidneys get overrun.  Doing whatever is necessary to maintain balance the body excretes them the only other way it can…through the skin.

Many doctors refer to the skin as the third kidney.  This isn’t news to anyone with any knowledge of the human body.  I hope this helps some of you.  Clean up the diet and you will clean up your skin.

So where does this leave P Diddy, Jessica Simpson, and Vanessa Williams?    Who really cares, they stopped being relevant years ago.

6. Which of the following answers is most correct and current concerning the risk of injury to children in rear impact motor vehicle collisions?
a. Children have been shown to have about 2/3 the risk of injury of adults.
b. Children have been shown to have about 1/6 the risk of injury of adults.
c. Children and adults are at equal risk, but children are injured much less frequently because they are more frequently rear seat passengers and rear seats are generally safer.
d. Children are more likely than adults to be injured in whiplash trauma.
e. None of the above.

7. Although a fairly large percentage of persons will have symptoms on a permanent basis following whiplash injury, what proportion of whiplash patients will have disability? Select the one best answer.
a. 2%.
b. 5%.
c. 18%.
d. 59%.
e. 10%.

8. A structural lesion that has come to be known as a “rim lesion” consists of:

b. An injury in which the intervertebral disc is separated from the body of the vertebra at the margin.
c. An injury to the epiphysis of a long bone.
d. A type of deformation of bumper isolators that suggests offset collision mechanisms.
e. None of the above.

9. When a vehicle that is stopped (target vehicle), is struck from the rear by another vehicle (bullet vehicle) and moved forward at a speed of 4.5 mph, 4.5 mph represents the target vehicle’s:
a. Barrier equivalent velocity (BEV).
b. Energy equivalent speed (EES).
c. Delta V.
d. Acceleration.
e. Who cares? We all know you can’t get hurt at this speed.

10. The majority of modern passenger cars behave relatively stiffly in low speed rear impact collisions. Permanent damage to bumpers systems begins to occur at which range of collision speeds?
a. 20-25 mph.
b. 2-7 mph.
c. 8-12 mph.
d. 25-30 mph.

11. According to the authors of the latest full scale rear impact crash tests using human volunteers, the threshold for cervical spine soft tissue injury (expressed in delta V, or change of velocity) is:
a. 12 mph.
b. 5 mph.
c. 2 mph.
d. 15 mph.

Answers to whiplash quiz:
1.D
2.A
3.C
4.B
5.E
6.A
7.E
8.B
9.C
10.C
11.B

Rate yourself: how did you do?

If you answered 10 or 11 correctly, you are either a very accomplished guesser or an expert in whiplash.
If you answered 8 or 9 correctly, you have an above average level of knowledge in whiplash traumatology.
If you answered 6 or 7 correctly, you can consider yourself average.
If you answered 4 or 5 correctly, you need to bone up on the subject if you are treating many of these patients.
If you answered only 3 or less correctly, you might consider going into forestry or shrimp farming.

If your Doctor didn’t score a 9 or higher (80 percent of them will not), then it’s time to find someone who actually knows what whiplash is.

Dirty Tactics of Auto Insurance Companies

17 03 2011

Delay of Game- According to attorney Mike Monheit  “Be careful of delays. If an insurance company can get you to delay hiring a lawyer and filing a lawsuit by delaying your case past the statute of limitations, then you will not have a case. Don’t wait until it is too late.”

False Start- Not only do you need to watch out for the delays, but also beware of a company trying to settle up too quickly.  It’s called the false start and here is how it works; So you just have an accident and you are at fault and you haven’t yet seen a doctor.  Andy the adjuster from the insurance company comes to your house within a few days of the accident expressing his company’s sympathy and tries to get you to agree to a settlement on the spot.  FALSE START on the insurance company!  Do not sign or agree to anything until you’re fully sure you do not have potential injuries or medical bills.  Clearly they are trying to do this to avoid medical bills.

Why Is The Vibration Platform So Effective?

22 02 2011

Force = Mass X Acceleration

Whenever we exercise our muscles, we are using Force to lift more or lift faster. There are two ways to get stronger: lift heavy weights (increasing the MASS to get more Force), or lift lighter weights but faster (keep the same weight but increase the ACCELERATION). WAVEvibration exercise works on increasing acceleration (rapid movement of the platform) rather than increasing the amount you lift, thereby placing less stress on your joints and ligaments.

Positive benefits on circulation
Gentle rapid contractions allow the muscle to work as a pump, resulting in increased blood flow within the circulatory system. This results in the body to carry off waste products much faster, thereby enhancing circulation and recovery.

Positive benefits on bone
Vibration exercise has a positive effect on bone. This is based upon Wolffe’s law, which states that bone responds to the physical stresses put on it. Rapid muscular contractions with the vibration platform will lead to increased strength and favorable stresses being placed on the bone.

Vitamin D Shown to Fight Crohn’s

21 02 2011

A new study has found that Vitamin D can counter the effects of Crohn’s disease.

Researchers found that Vitamin D acts directly on the beta defensin 2 gene, which encodes an antimicrobial peptide, and the NOD2 gene that alerts cells to the presence of invading microbes.

Both beta defensin and NOD2 have been linked to Crohn’s disease. If NOD2 is deficient or defective, it cannot combat invaders in the intestinal tract.
